The Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)

This list contains the most in-demand occupations in the Australian labour market. If your occupation is on it, you will have the possibility to apply for an independent permanent residence visa (visa 189), status nomination (190, 491, 191), graduate visa (485),

The Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)

States and Territories publish their lists after conducting a thorough study of their labour market and of the sectors that lack qualified labour. From there, the lists are updated each year with the occupations required in these regions.
If your occupation is on this list, you can apply for visa 190 (permanent residence) or visa 491 (temporary residence) with sponsorship from a State or Territory.

The Regional Occupation List (ROL)

Finally, this list contains occupations that are in high demand in regional areas, as well as in States and Territories, for which you can only apply for visa 491, a temporary residence visa with State Sponsorship.
